Earlier this month, Kathryn Jones and her team trekked an incredible 100km across the Sahara Desert in aid of PANDAS (Pre and Postnatal Depression Advice and Support), an incredible charity who offer support to individuals and families that are affected by perinatal mental health illnesses. PANDAS is a charity run solely by volunteers who run and coordinate a national helpline, email support and 40+ support groups across the UK. The volunteers do all of this without funding and rely on the support of the public to help fundraise and donate.
Not only is PANDAS an incredible charity, it's also very close to Kat's heart as she herself as suffered from both Pre and Postnatal Depression. She knows how difficult it can be to get help and doesn't want other women to feel how she has felt. She said, "with the help and support of the online support group my life has turned around. Not only have I been inspired to set up a local PANDAS support group, I have been given this wonderful opportunity to give something back to the charity at the same time as completing a life-changing challenge."
When Toyota Preston found out about Kathryn's incredible mission, they decided to support her and the PANDAS team, donating a sum of money they had raised before Christmas to her fantastic cause. Kat was extremely grateful, saying: "Thank you so much for your amazing generosity. I am so grateful and can promise it's for a very worthy cause. So many Mummy's are celebrating Mother's Day today because of PANDAS - including me. Thank you again!"
An incredible charity and an incredible lady! Congratulations on completing your Sahara trek Kat and raising an impressive £3275 so far. You can donate to the PANDAS Sahara Trek fund here.
